West Oakland artist Eesuu Orundide has created a bronze sculpture to honor West Oakland community members and youth who participate in sports activities in Raimondi Park . The sculpture, entitled Ashe (a Yoruba word meaning “life force”), is six feet long by three feet tall and is located just inside the park’s main entrance on 18th Street .

Mr. Ashe (Life Force) was commissioned by the City of Oakland ’s Public Art Program for Raimondi Park , located between Campbell and Wood, 18th and 19th streets in West Oakland . Funding was generated by the Raimondi Park Sports Fields Improvement Project.
