West Oakland artist Eesuu Orundide has created a bronze sculpture to honor West Oakland community members and youth who participate in sports activities in Raimondi Park . The sculpture, entitled Ashe (a Yoruba word meaning “life force”), is six feet long by three feet tall and is located just inside the park’s main entrance on 18th Street .Mr. Ashe (Life Force) was commissioned by the City of Oakland ’s Public Art Program for Raimondi Park , located between Campbell and Wood, 18th and 19th streets in West Oakland . Funding was generated by the Raimondi Park Sports Fields Improvement Project.
